Farm Tours
Want a tour to see for yourself how our sustainable homestead farm works? We offer two types of tours:
Educational Tour ($12/pp $42/fam)- This is a 90 minutes tour of all the facets of the farm, from yaks to carrots. We will talk about how we integrate livestock and crop production, how we regenerate our land without the use of chemicals, how we manage pests with biological controls, and most important – how we grow bananas in South Dakota. From May through September, these tours are offered Tuesdays at 9am and Fridays at 5:30pm. Drop ins are welcome, please arrive 10 minutes before the tour begins. (From October through April, please call us to arrange a tour.)
Tag Along Tour ($10/pp)- A tag along tour is a 45 to 60 minute experience tagging along with us as we do evening chores. You will follow one of us as we tend to all the animals, collect eggs, and do evening crop and greenhouse checks. These tours are daily and times change with the time of sunset. Please call us to schedule a Tag Along Tour. 605-223-1125.
Animal Interactions
Want to get hands on with our yaks or llamas? We offer three types of interactions:
Yak Experience ($60 – 3 person max) – Spend time with a Yak! Brush their coat, feed them treats and take one for a walk. Approximately 60 minutes.
Llama Experience ($40 – 2 person max) – Get close up and personal with a llama! Pet them, feed them treats and take one for a walk. Approximately 60 minutes.
Llama Trek with Lunch ($40 per person – 8 person max) – Take a llama for a 45 minute easy hike into the woods and stop for a picnic lunch. You don’t need to carry anything – the llama will carry it all. Plan 2 1/2 hours total time.
We Love Volunteers!
Whether you are looking for a weekend experience or want to come for a month or two, we’ll have plenty to do.
We often have a position for a full time farm hand to help with crops and livestock. Living on farm is required and the majority of food is provided as well as a small stipend. If you are interested, contact us.
